What. A. Year.
We made it! We even managed to create lots of great work that we’re really proud of. We want to say Happy Christmas to you, our friends and colleagues, young and old(er)! We want to wish a restful and safe holiday break and we really hope to see your faces in person as 2021 finds its feet.
A leithéid de bhliain!
Ach d’éirigh linn! Agus ar an mbealach, chruthaíomar obair ealaíon den scoth, nár shamhlaíomar riamh roimhe ach go bhfuil an-bhród orainn mar gheall uirthi. A bhuíochas sin libhse, a chairde agus a chomhleacaí. Buíochas ó chroí libh agus guímid Nollaig shona shíochánach shuaimhneach daoibh ar fad. Ag súil go mór le bualadh libh le dóchas agus draíocht i 2021.
Artists are the people to turn to in the big moments, when you can’t express the thing that you are feeling. So, we’re just going to quote the poet Mary Oliver:
“Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.”
In a way, that kinda sums up our 2020.
We’ve received so much support during the most difficult of years, so many gifts. We just want to take the time now to say thank you:
To the children and young people we work with, for keeping us motivated with their energy and creative spirit;
To their parents, teachers and carers for supporting them to show up and work with us when it was probably easier not to but really important to do so;
To all the amazing artists and facilitators who found the resilience to keep working, creating, delivering wonderful work and innovating to an entirely new level;
To our brilliant partners for constantly saying ‘YES’!;
To our board for consistently keeping the ship on course in waters that we had never mapped;
To our funders for sticking with us, believing in us and showing real leadership.
So many of us have felt the restorative power of the arts this year. Just thinking about experiencing live and in person performances and experiences with you, our friends, gives us so much hope for the new year.
