Are you a primary school teacher, working with 3rd to 6th class in a DEIS school in Cork City?
Or a teacher working in a Special School Setting?
Would you like to take part in a FREE Creative Learning project with Graffiti Theatre Company?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!
Supported by the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal, Graffiti is delighted to offer 8 class groups the opportunity to take part in Making Space, a brand new Creative Learning Project that celebrates children’s rights to access culture and creativity, and brings the magic of The Toy Show to classrooms across the city!

What’s involved in the project?
Making Space is a partnership with Blackrock Castle Observatory, which will serve as the creative prompt for a range of activities exploring “Space” in many forms!
The selected class groups will:
- Be assigned a Theatre Artist for the project
- Visit Blackrock Castle Observatory for a tour and workshop, accompanied by their Theatre Artist
- Take part in a series of theatre workshops in their classroom, inspired by the visit to Blackrock Castle
- Take part in a series of Shadow Puppetry workshops with puppeteer Josephine Dennehy, at Graffiti and in their classroom
- Develop a short piece of theatre to be performed at Graffiti, during a week-long Festival of Children’s Work
- 1 person from each class group will be offered a 1 year scholarship to join Activate Youth Theatre, beginning September 2026.
- Making Space is offered free of charge, but schools must provide their own transport to and from Blackrock Castle and Graffiti. Each class group will be offered a €500 subsidy towards the cost of travel.
Key Dates for the Project
This project runs throughout the school year.
- Weeks beginning November 3rd, and November 17th: Each class group will be assigned a day to visit Blackrock Castle Observatory for a 3 hour workshop (10 am to 1 pm)
